ai feb 2020

Dear friends,

Antitrustitalia’s 54th lunch talk is scheduled on Wednesday, 19 February 2020, 12:30 pm at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP)’s Auditorium in Brussels (Place Madou 1 │ 1210 Saint-Josse-ten-Nood │ Metro Madou).

Annemiek Wilpshaar, Deputy Head of Unit C.5 in DG COMP of the European Commission, will give a presentation in English on:

“Mergers in the IT sector: recent developments and trends”

Recent merger cases in the IT sector require a careful assessment of complex conglomerate relationships and a detailed review of internal documents to understand the rationale behind the planned transaction as well as the merging parties’ standalone plans. Annemiek led a number of the Commission’s investigations in the IT sector and, from her privileged perspective, she will provide an overview of the most interesting cases, discussing recent developments and trends in this area.

Annemiek is Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission’s DG Competition, in the unit responsible for mergers in the IT, telecommunications and media sectors. Previously, Annemiek had been a member of the Chief Economist Team at DG Competition for many years. She also served as Cabinet Member of Vice President Almunia. Annemiek holds a MSc in Economics from London School of Economics and a MSc in Competition and Market Regulation from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.
