Antitrustitalia’s 51 lunch talk is scheduled on Wednesday, 10 April 2019, 12:30 pm at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP)’s Auditorium in Brussels (Place Madou 1 │ 1210 Saint-Josse-ten-Nood │ Metro Madou).
Michele Piergiovanni, Head of Unit C.5 (mergers – IT, telecoms and media) in DG COMP of the European Commission, will give a presentation in English on:
“The Commission decision in Siemens/Alstom”
Michele will discuss the recent decision of the European Commission to block Siemens’ proposed takeover of Alstom’s activities in the railway sector, with a particular focus on the competition concerns identified by the Commission in the key problematic markets and on the reasons why the Commission considered the remedies offered not sufficient to address these concerns”.
Michele Piergiovanni is Head of Unit at the European Commission’s DG Competition, in the unit responsible for mergers in the IT, telecommunications and media sectors. Before joining the Commission, Michele worked for several years in private practice in Brussels and in Italy. Michele holds a law degree from the University of Genoa, as well as LL.M degrees from the College of Europe and Harvard Law School.
Lunch will be provided at 12:30, the presentation will begin at 13:00 and will close at 14:30. Important note: Please allow time to register at the Madou Tower desk, we recommend coming at noon.
