Competition policy for the Digital Single Market

antitrustitalia’s 50th lunch talk is scheduled on Wednesday, 20 March 2019 at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP)’s Auditorium in Brussels (Place Madou 1 │ 1210 Saint-Josse-ten-Nood │ Metro Madou).

Thomas Kramler, Unit C.6 (E-commerce and data economy) at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition, will give a presentation in English on:

“Competition policy for the Digital Single Market: Focus on key enforcement trends and the EU public consultation on Verticals Block Exemption Regulation and Vertical Guidelines”

Thomas Kramler will present the latest key enforcement developments for vertical agreements under EU competition law such as the recent cases on RPM in the consumer electronics sector and on selective distribution (Guess). He will also address the background of the public consultation recently launched by the Commission, in the context of the review of the existing rules (i.e., the VBER and VGL).

Thomas Kramler’s Unit C.6 is responsible for antitrust in E-commerce and data economy at the Commission’s DG Competition. He has been Head of the Digital Single Market Task Force responsible for the e-commerce sector inquiry in the European Commission’s DG Competition. Thomas holds a law degree and a PhD from the University of Vienna, Austria, and a master in European Legal Studies from the College of Europe (Bruges). Previously, Thomas was Deputy Head of the Unit responsible for antitrust cases in the information industries, internet and consumer electronics sectors. Before joining the European Commission, Thomas worked as agent representing the Austrian government before the European Courts in Luxemburg.

Lunch will be provided at 12:30, the presentation will begin at 13:00 and will close at 14:30. Important note: Please allow time to register at the Madou Tower desk, we recommend coming at noon.
