Antitrustitalia’s 46th lunch talk is scheduled on Tuesday 3 July 2018, 12:30 pm at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP)’s Auditorium in Brussels (Place Madou 1 │ 1210 Saint-Josse-ten-Nood │ Metro Madou).
A panel of public enforcers that are experts in the Life Science sector, including DG COMP Director Paul Csiszár, DG COMP officials that are experts in the field and a DG Sante representative for a regulatory perspective, will give a presentation on:
Antitrust and Competition Issues in the Life Science Sector
The DG COMP panel will provide an overview of recent developments by DG COMP and the National Competition Authorities in the life science industry, including excessive pricing, market definition, pay-for-delay, and mergers. Since DG COMP launched its Pharmaceutical Sector Inquiry in 2008, there has been a spotlight on the interplay between competition law and the life science sector. A broad range of investigations have taken place, and a number are on-going. DG SANTE will be reporting on biologicals and biosimilars from a regulatory perspective.
The panel will include:
Paul Csiszár, the DG COMP Director responsible for pharma antitrust and mergers
Rainer Becker, DG COMP head of unit “Antitrust: Pharma and Health services”
Marion Bailly, Harald Mische and Blaz Visnar, DG COMP officials that are experts in the life science industry
Dirk van Den Steen, policy officer from DG SANTE – Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety
Lunch will be provided at 12:30, the presentation will begin at 13:00 and will close at 14:45.
